I hear nothing but praise for the top and tilt. Please tell me why it is so valuable. What can it do that the standard and adjustable lift arms can't, other than speed up the process and save time by not having to get off the tractor to tilt a blade or implement manually. I do understand that being able to apply down pressure would be valuable but what else? Educate me please.

454; You're right on the money, a top and tilt kit won't do a thing for you except speed up the adjustment of one side 3pt. lift arm link and the length of the top link. The only down pressure it might add would be the extra weight of the hydraulic cylinders that replace the 3pt. links, and I doubt that would be enough to even notice. They are a neat feature, but far from a necessity, I've never had one either. Frank. ....

The amount of time it will save compared to getting off and on and adjusting by hand is so great that I don't believe it would be possoble to duplicate by hand except for the most basic adjustments. Also I believe the range of motion is greater with the T&T. The implements it really shines on include box scrapers, scraper blades, and post hole diggers. ....

I had a phone conversation a while back with the engineer at Gearmore who designs their top and tilt kits.

He said he would never use a tilt cylinder with a rear blade, there is simply too much stress applied. He said the tilt cylinders are designed to use with a box scraper and other lighter duty applications.

The top cylinder, according to him, can be used for just about any application.

As far as the question, Do you need it? The answer is no. But next time you buy a new pick-up you also don't need power steering, automatic transmission, windshield washers and the like.

Top and tilt is a wonderful thing to have. ....

I'd like to know where that engineer thought too much stress would be put, on the blade or the 3 point arms. I can't believe either since both of my blades can be manually tilted in either direction to dig the tip in to make a shallow trench, much like you could do with a T&T. they can also be angled in either direction and one can be offset. ....

I went for years without 4 wheel drive or a front loader, but now that I've had them I will never go back.
Went for years without extendable lower link arms on my 3 point, but now that I've seen the huge differance they make hooking up attachments I will never go back.
The same goes for top and tilt, now that I've had it I will never go back to being without.. ....

DK, my thoughts exactly with many of my toys, "How did I ever live without it, I could never be without it again." I have yet to get extendable links or T&T but they are going to come eventually. ....
